  • Insert original nest photo once again.
  • Place it below edited nest layer.
  • Make it darker using Level settings (Image > Adjustments > Levels > Move black and gray markers right).

  • Load selection for background and remove it.

  • Merge both of "nest" layers.
  • Load smooth selection for outside nest branches and apply Gaussian Blur Filter, around 2%.
  • Select bottom shade area for nest and fill it with dark color in a new layer, Apply Multiply blending Mode and Opacity about 50-60%.

  • Load selection for nest and fill it with black color in a new layer.
  • Flip created layer vertical. Move it bottom just like in the example below.

  • Transform it using free transformation on vertical and move bottom edge little bit right using Skew Transformation.
  • Apply Black/black translucent linear gradient to this layer.

  • Place hippo photo into a new layer.
