Marble House is one of the earliest examples of Beaux-Arts architecture in the US, with design inspiration from the Grand Trianon at the Palace of Versailles.

Marble House is a Gilded Age mansion in Newport, RI. It was built between 1888 and 1892 for Alva and William Kissam Vanderbilt and designed by Richard Morris Hunt. The mansion cost $11 million ($260,000,000 in 2009) of which $7 million was spent on 500,000 cubic feet of marble.
